Welcome to the Play-Cricket Homepage of Penzance CC.
Penzance Cricket Club was formed in 1829, the year of the first Varsity Boat Race, and the St Clare playing field became the permanent home of Penzance Cricket Club in 1919. This was when the ground was given to them by the widow of a prominent local businessman and Penzance cricketer W E T Bolitho.
W E T Bolitho became the first Cornwall Cricket Captain in 1887, when Cornwall first played county fixtures. He later became a Freeman of Penzance.
The Club was one of the founder members of the Cornwall Cricket League which was formed in 1905. It has enjoyed much success since it's formation with well over 100 players having played for the senior County team. It has won the County Senior League Championship on 22 occasions and the Vinter Cup on 12 occasions.
The Club currently has three senior teams playing in the league structure. Our 1st XI play in the Premier League, our 2nd XI play in Division 2 west, and the 3rd XI play in Division 5 Atlantic. It also has an Evening League team, and a flourishing boys youth section from Under 11 upwards. It also has a girls Under 17 team, and full women's team that plays in the Cornwall Women's Cricket League. The Club is a Clubmark accredited Focus Club.
